Our 2008 show is history! Many thanks to the 55 volunteers who gave their time and energy to help make the show a success. Did you guess how many rocks were in the jar? there were 6 folks who guessed 300 and one who guessed 302 but only one person had the magic number of 301. The winner was Greg Wollenberg of Cottage Grove, the first time our door prize winner was from Cottage Grove.
For the second time since the drawing began, a junior rockhound was the winner. The very surprised Chandler heard about the show through his Cub Scouts and came to the show with his mom. Thank you Wayne and Marilynn Nelson (China Cellar) for donating the Peter Muller carving.
The registration desk gave out 989 door prize tickets. Since that did not include many of our volunteers, all of our dealers and some of the folks attending the Midwest Federation meetings, we're estimating that we had close to 1100 people participating in our show. As always, the Kid’s Corner was a big hit. Many of our guests from the federation commented on the great program we offer for youth. A special thank you goes to Rich Stephens and his crew of energetic volunteers.
This year, we had a record number of tailgaters, and the weather cooperated which made the parking lot activity all the better!
