In 2004, the Minnesota Mineral Club adopted Hennepin County Road 30 in Brooklyn Park as one of the club's community service events. Each spring and fall litter is collected by members from the club. The pickups are scheduled to coincide with regular club meeting dates in May and October, weather depanding and permitting.
This year's fall pick up event will be October 10, 2009. We'll meet at the SuperAmerica (corner of Zane and County Road 30) at 10:00 a.m. Volunteers should come equipped with sturdy shoes, gloves and water. Safety vests and litter bags are provided courtesy of Hennepin County. In case of inclement weather, check with the event coordinator (Jim Ericson) to see if the event is cancelled.
Adopt-A-Highway is a fun & social Club activity. The more people who participate, the quicker the task. This is a public service and it keeps the ground clear so that we can see the rocks. (LOL!) All members welcome but children do need to be supervised by an adult.
